April 20th, 2012 - Carnival theme revealed:
Get ready for some yabba dabba doo.
Prehistoric Carnival, Carnival Before Time has been selected as the theme for the 53rd annual Vernon Winter Carnival Feb. 1 to 10, 2013.
“It’s a theme we haven’t had yet,” said Dave Fletcher, Carnival president.
“It really opens up the imagination. It’s not just about dinosaurs. It can be early man and there will be a lot of creative ways people can embrace the theme.” Fletcher says his board was looking for a concept that was open-ended in terms of ideas and the theme is critical to parade floats, events and decorations.

Queen Silver Star Candidate application forms are now avalible. Due May 18th, 2012. Application form There will be two information sessions for potential candidates and parents May 3rd and May 15th, both at 7pm at the Vernon Winter Carnival Office.
ATTENTION:
We are looking for a float driver for the City of Vernon Float. There are a few parades throughout the summer that our Vernon Ambassadors attend. Driver must have own truck with the capability to pull a large trailor. This is a paid position with expenses covered. Please contact the office

We didn't have great weather for the Balloon Fiesta this year, but they were able to make it up a few times. The Balloon Glow was very beautiful. Watch for the Balloons on the opening weekend next year!
